Rande Blank, Associate Professor has been the Director of the MAT in Visual Arts Education program since 2012 and a faculty member at UARTS Art + Design Education department since 2003. She provides professional development for PK-16 teachers & teaches preservice students about design thinking in the art classroom, strategies & accommodations for students with special needs and curriculum writing. She supervises and evaluates student teachers, is the certification officer and the NAEA student chapter liaison. Blank is active in state and national art & design education associations, is the past Chair of the Design Interest Group (DIG) for NAEA and presents regularly at the NAEA, PAEA & AENJ conferences. She is the past Chair of the Higher Education Division of PAEA. Currently she is on the planning board of the NAEA Summer Studio Design Thinking Institute & on the advisory board of Design-ED. Blank earned her M.Ed. from Arcadia University, BS in Design at University of Maryland and completed a Post Bach at Moore College of Art & Design. She is a practicing artist and trained graphic designer and her body of 2D & 3D work includes mixed media, mosaics, found object sculptures & acrylic painting.
