Art Supplies/Donations

Hello, I hope everyone is staying healthy. I work in an urban school in Massachusetts. Many of my students and their families are enduring unimaginable hardships during this pandemic.

If any of our families have any income, it cannot be used on art supplies. I am wondering if anyone can suggest any companies/organizations who would be willing to donate art supplies to my students? Items such as crayons,  markers, glue, and construction paper would mean so much to my wonderful, amazing, creatively artistic students.

Thanks so much and please stay safe.

Thanks for your post and making us aware of one of many hardships families are facing during this time.  I'm sure your colleagues here will be following this post as many are facing similar challenges. We are so appreciative of the work you are doing in advocating for tools that support positive, creative learning experiences at home. I am including below 3 organizations we partner with that align with your request. Good Luck in your discovery.

I too am in  a very similar situation in Oxnard, CA. Many of my families are hemorrhaging income bc they have been laid off. I am teaching remotely via Google Classroom. I always give them an art project per week. Just having some paper and crayons would be amazing for my kids. They are using used papers from school to do art and while it works it just reminds them of what they do not have. Anyway, I also would love to know of any grants I could apply for to help out some of my families.

    Sincerely,

Same here in Brooklyn, NY. I teach K-2 Deaf students, now remotely through Google Classroom. Many homes are in disarray with loss of income. Most parents don't know sign language and my students are frustrated and confused at home. Art is a way for them to communicate since they are such visual learners. I am looking to find art supplies that can be sent to their homes, to give them a means to express themselves.

    Thank you,

I am on our local recycling council's board. We have a storage shed with an array of materials teachers and crafters can use for projects. This is everything from egg cartons and paper towel tubes to twine. buttons, oatmeal and other containers,  and more. You might see if a similar resource is available in your area.

These aren't art supplies, but art resources that might help! Just wanted to share in case anyone is interested. DonatePPE, a volunteer organization focused on getting PPE to the frontline healthcare workers recently partnered with the cartoonist of the Muppets / Looney Toons / TMNT / etc., Guy Gilchrist, to create free PDF coloring pages to help parents / teachers talk to their kids about Coronavirus, the pandemic, quarantine, & maskwear while doing something fun! If your kids submit their coloring pages to "doodles@donateppe.org", Donate PPE will print the submissions out in high resolution prints to pass out to frontline healthcare workers to post in the hospitals while distributing life-saving PPE. If you would like more info, go to www.donateppe.org/doodles to check out the artwork. Thanks!

This is an amazing resource as someone who works in a hospital setting!
Thank you so much for sharing. It will definitely help our patients to see their favorite characters wearing the same PPE as myself and their other healthcare workers.

If you have any more resources like this please don't hesitate to share them!

    Thank you!
