July is World Watercolor Month, one of our favorite creative holidays! One way we can all celebrate is by using this fun summer learning lesson, Coastal Lighthouses and Beautiful Skies.
In this lesson, students research all about the necessity of lighthouses, how ocean currents work, and ocean geography. Students then sketch a lighthouse and ocean and color everything except the sky. The sky is created using beautiful watercolor techniques to mimic a sunrise or sunset. This fun summer-themed lesson can also be used when students return from summer vacation to add colorful, beachy art to your classroom.
