    Hi All!

Summer is the best time to be outdoors! Do you do anything with your family, students, or just by yourself that helps you enjoy the outdoors creatively? Whether it is drawing with chalk on the pavement, painting outside, or just taking a walk, there are so many ways to spark creativity outside!

What is your favorite creative project to do outside?
Share with us, so that we can all have some great ways to stay creative over the summer!

My college students that are teaching art at summer camps have been creating multidisciplinary lessons using sand. Creating mandalas using colorful sand teaches symmetry, balance, repetition, etc and offers a new technique in creating art on the street, in the classroom or outdoors. The temporary nature of the art is a new experience and can be captured with a digital camera/cell phone to preserve the image for the gallery show. Students can also learn how to use glue to make a permanent piece. Small or large the experience is motivating and you hear lots of "oohs and aahs".
